ADULT PSYCHIATRIST POSITION, SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER
San Mateo Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry is looking for full-time psychiatrists to join our core medical staff.
Staff psychiatrists may work in any of the following services: the psychiatric emergency department, the locked acute inpatient unit, the medical-surgical and long-term care floors in a consultation-liaison role, and/or at a long-term subacute psychiatric facility. Specific duties and schedule will depend on the current need.
San Mateo Medical Center is the County of San Mateo's public hospital and clinics health care system. The main hospital campus is a full-service acute hospital with 30 inpatient psych beds and a separate, 24-hour psychiatric emergency unit, along with a medical emergency department, 70 med-surg and ICU beds, and 30 rehab beds.

The County of San Mateo's award-winning Psychiatric Residency Training Program is based at the Medical Center, and staff psychiatrists are invited to join the faculty and participate in training residents as well as psychology interns.

Typical work assignments:
Salary: Physicians working as inpatient psychiatrists receive a 10% premium pay over the base pay listed above. In addition, psychiatrists also receive an additional 5% increase in salary for each qualifying board certification, up to two (2) Boards.
Night-shift differential: All psychiatrists receive $175/hour, regardless of their base wage, for any work between the hours of 6pm and 6am.
Other benefits (partial list): Other annual benefits include 234 hours of vacation/compensatory time, increasing every 5 years of full-time employment; 12 paid holidays; 96 hours of paid sick leave; subsidized health insurance and retirement plans; health benefits for retirees; $2,500 of reimbursed educational and other professional expenses; a wellness program, including exercise classes, worksite massage, and an onsite gym; 15% administrative time; pro-rated 130 hours/full FTE of additional hours that can be used as leave or be cashed out at 50% each spring; strong leadership training and much more.

Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
